The Steamer - a poem inspired by W.H. Auden
20 06 2006The Steamer - By Edward (Year 5)
The Steamer approaches with thick black steam,
Running ahead slim and green.
Full steam ahead! The driver calls,
He let go of bar and nearly falls.
Luckily the man changes the points,
The train runs smoothly with his iron joints
The track is gritty, Steamer clatters on,
At the side of track the people wave and wave ‘till he’s is gone.
Now the trains at the station,
The people wait with anticipation.
At the level crossing a car goes past,
Although he screeched the brakes on he was going too fast.

Hi I was just haveing a look at Edwards poem, and i thought that it was realy good.
This poem is very good Eddy.
One stars and a wish,
You could say how the driver gets back on or if he falls.
