3 07 2006As part of their work on forces, year 3, 4, and 5 have been building some vehicles to race down the 3m course in the hall.
View the buggies, then please make a suggestion how they could make their vehicle travel faster. Why do you think some buggies travelled faster than others? Which forces need to be increased? reduced? how might they do this?
Slow - Completed 77cm in 1.25secs
Supersonic Speeder - Completed 3m in 1.86secs
Red Hot - Completed 88cm in 1.5secs
The Slasher Scorpion - Completed 2.5m in 3.09secs
King Knex - Completed 3m in 1.73secs
Lightning - Completed 3m in 2.51

I really like your buggy the desine and the style maybe next time have a better name,

Me and Milly think that lightning looked like it was fast good speed(2.51) and it was like lightning. What could of been better was smaller Because small means fast.
i think red hot could be better if it had four wheels but apart from that it has a good structure.
Lightening could have been better If the wheels had been sraight. The structure was great.
It’s really simple desgn but it works really well. We think this is because

Lightning was good but you put to much detil on lightning but we still think it is good.
slow might go faster if all the wheels are the same size, i agree with jess and think that it could have a more majestic name than slow
I think that the slow design is the best because it was very arodinamik and even though Edward,Joe,Jack and me made King K’nex It is very sad slow

Super sonic speeder needs a little more detail and i don’t think it needs a elastic rope ether. But it was goood
I like super sonic speeder because it is areo dimamic, not much friction and very light
chloe and milly, me and lauren don’t think that small means fast because it depends what it is, a race car for example is’nt small but still goes very fast.
we don’t now wy the slow went slow it looked a bit faster than it is.

we think there should be more pieces to it but it went very fast, sometimes simple things can be better than complicated things.
i think that slow was a good design but it might go a bit further if slow was a bit heavyer, bigger and a bit more areodinamic
Rember to keep it areo-dinamic so it will go quicker.
I liked the slow design because of the structure, but it went slow because of the way the K’nex was fitted.
king knex sounds very pro like fast. we think there might have been to many pieces and that might have weighed it down and made it slower.

Elly thought lighting had good detil on it but if you made it a bit small it would of gone further and faster tiraj thinks that lightning shold of been smaller and didn’t have to much detil on it and Ellyand tiraj thinks it should be more stable we think it is fab!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chloe small dose not mean fast are’s wasn’t small but it was fast time 1.73 seconds completing 3 metres.
I think that King K’nex came first because it was hevey and that means that there was more gravity on it to push it down.
You could have a look for the box of weights and design a carrier on the buggies to test Andrew’s idea about heaviness.
