A strange tale - By Thomas
19 10 2006The weird man who lived next door
“Hi. What are you doing?” my next door neighbour asked me.
“I am just about to go to the park, Andrew.” I lied.
He was always asking me questions, as if he was suspicious. He was worse than Ned Flanders off The Simpsons. I closed my comic and went inside for a drink. After I had finished my drink, I went to Eric’s house. Andrew thought I was going to the park. When I got to Eric’s house, he showed me his new computer game, which was called Street Fighter. He showed me how to play it, then he let me have a go on it.
“Hey, Eric, do you want to go to the park?” I asked him. Eric was twelve. He had blonde wavy hair, and freckles on his nose. He looked like me. I am twelve too. Some people at school think we are twins. But we are not. Me and Eric are just best friends.
“Sure. Let’s go,” he exclaimed. Five minutes after me and Eric got to the park, we saw Andrew.
“Would you like an ice-cream you two?” Andrew asked.
“We haven’t got any money,” I told him.
“I will buy you both one,” Andrew assured me. He bought two chocolate ice-creams with chocolate chips in. It even had chocolate sauce on! The ice-creams were the biggest ones you could get. Andrew had brought his children and his dog to the park. “Let’s go to my house for a while,” I suggested. Eric came to my house for two hours. We played on Tomb Raider on my Playstation two for an hour. Then we watched the television for a while. “I’ve got to go! My mum wants me back before six o’clock, and it’s already five to six,” Eric told me, like a loonatik. Eric lived two blocks away from me.
“Tomorrow we will play with our bb guns!” Eric shouted. The bb guns were really powerful.
That gave me an idea. I got my bb gun and filled it up. I went over to the little hole in the fence. I waited for Mr. Boyd to come back from the park. When he finally got back I fired the bb gun. “Ow!” I heard him shout. Yes! Direct hit! Right on his bum! Perfect! I quickly hid behind the nearest bush to me. Andrew looked over the fence. When he wasn’t looking, I quickly ran inside the house. I put my bb gun back in my bedroom. I played on my ps2 for three hours. I would have played on it longer if my mum hadn’t said we needed to go shopping. I hate going shopping. I told my mum I didn’t feel very well. It was only a lie. “I will drop you off at Eric’s house,” mum said.
“Eric has gone to watch the horse racing,” I told mum. It wasn’t a lie. Then Mr. Boyd came outside and said he would look after me.
“Are you sure you want to look after Edward, Mr. Boyd?” my mum asked him.
“Yes, I am certain,” he assured my mum.
“Bye mum,” I said to her, waving.
“Bye Edward,” my mum called. I went inside Mr. Boyd’s house, and watched the telly. Then Jack got battleship out. I already knew how to play it. Jack nearly beat me, but I sunk his last ship, which was the five hole one. Then when Jack had put battleship away, he got scrabble out. Jack beat me by twenty seven points. “I need to go to the paper shop,” Andrew exclaimed. “Hey, I will go on my bike,” I called. I went to the paper shop and got a newspaper for Andrew. Then my mum got back. I went inside the house, and saw Andrew pull his head off! He looked like a robot! In fact he was a robot! I tried to pull my own head off, expecting it to stay on. But it came straight off! But as the saying goes: LET THE WILD THINGS LIVE.
The End
