Owning a pet can be great fun and very rewarding. But remember, pets require your time, money, commitment and patience.

Different pets have different needs, but the most common pets, like dogs, cats and rabbits, need:

• A healthy balanced diet and fresh clean drinking water
• A clean, cosy place to sleep
• The space to exercise and keep fit
• Company and friendship
• To be taken to the vet when they are ill or injured
• Vaccinations to protect them from nasty diseases
• To be looked after when you go on holiday.
