VISIT TO A SIKH TEMPLE
Class 1 and Class 2 have been learning how religious beliefs influence the way Sikh people live their lives. This week everyone will get the opportunity to visit a Sikh Temple.
Praying in the Gurdwara and sharing food and working together as equals is very important to the Sikh community.
If you would like to visit a Sikh Temple have a look at this link http://www.ngfl.ac.uk/re/welcometothegur…

Hadley Sikh Temple

The Gurdwara visit
On the 11.3.09 the whole school went to the Gurdwara in Telford. We saw the five k’s. They have a sword to defend the human race. At the end we got fed space raider crisps and orange juice. When we went in we had to take off our shoes and cover our hair. Sikhs believe that they should not cut their heir because it gives them stamina. When we went into the main part of the temple we had to bow to the book. The holy book was called the guru granth sahib. We had sweets when we were in the main part.
I think this trip was very interesting. James
The Gurdwara Visit
When we visited the Gurwara (on 11.3.09) we found that Sikhs had to defend the human race where they are reminded by their Kirpan. They are reminded not to steal by their Karra, a bracelet, which reminds them not to steal, a Khanga which is just a comb (Sikhs have to comb their hair twice a day), a Kesh which means hair and a Kachha which is a pair of shorts that the Sikhs use for their special kind of martial arts called Gatka to defend themselves. So all in all it was a great trip.
