Forest Schools Storyteller comes to visit
As part of Shrewsbury BookFest we were lucky enough to have Forest School’s storyteller, Helen Howes, visit us on Monday 16th March. Both classes had a great time and you can read some accunts of Class 2’s session here.
When the Storyteller came!
On Monday 16th March we had a visitor from forest schools called Helen, who told us a story outside, next to the mini-roundhouse for the Shrewsbury book fest.
Forest schools are a sort of outside club, like making certain things like dens and different helpful things.
The Shrewsbury book fest is a Book Festival, it is where people have loads of fun playing games and doing fun things like what we did on that once-in–a-life-time-day.
When Helen came (with her dog) it was really fun. We got to play a game where we had to lead our partner to a tree and then take them back to the starting place. Then they had to find the tree that they felt, but unfortunately George didn’t get a go because we ran out of time.
We also got to make a den, me and George carefully made a den from Georges previous experiences, on top of the hill (it was just made of sticks). Some people made walking sticks (made of hazel). Some people made Gazoos (duck sounding instruments), but first Helen told us a story, called where the forest meets the sea, by Jenney Baker, which was about a boy and his dad, they went to a rainforest that was in Australia, the boy explored the rainforest while his father fished, and when the boy came back his dad was cooking fish, the pictures were collages, that the author used to make her story look real.
We had a biscuit and a drink at the end, we were all very grateful to Helen for coming and that we all hoped she would come again some day. So all in all it was one of the greatest days ever!
