Welcome to Hope CE Primary School Blog

Y6 pupils left Hope CE Primary in style on Friday afternoon as, alongside their class mates, they entertained parents and friends. They showed off their many talents and of particular note was the tribute dance to Michael Jackson, the poetry recitals and the many musical numbers, both song and instrumental. A fond farewell was given to Sue Evans, who has worked at Hope for 22 years, and an ex pupil, Connor Gricmanis,  treated us to a special musical performance - on his violin.

At the recent school BBQ, Y6 pupils planted a young tree in the school grounds, to commemorate their time at Hope school. For all of them are the last in their families to pass through the school and we wish them well as they start a new adventure at secondary school. We will miss them lots - don’t forget to come and visit us soon.

Last term Class 2 learned a lot about rivers and got chance to put their maths and geography skills to work when they visited Carding Mill Valley to study the work of the river. They measured how fast it flowed and how deep it was in different parts. They looked for signs of erosion and after a picnic lunch had great fun paddling in the stream.  Whilst Class 2 studied the river,  Class 1 went pond dipping and looked at all sorts of interesting creatures in the lab.

The whole school went to Blists Hill Museum to experience life as it used to be in the Victorian era. Everyone had a go at making bread and then we looked at all the shops and houses. The school room was very interesting and of course the sweet shop was a favourite amongst everyone - even the teachers!

We had really great weather for our sports day. Loads of friends, parents and carers came to watch. Some of the favourite events were the chariot races, the wellie wanging and the slow bicycle race. We added up all the house points for achievements throughout the year to the points earned on sports day. Congratulations to everyone in Corndon - the overall winning house team. They were presented with a brand new silver trophy cup donated by Friends of Hope. It is particularly special as it bears the school’s new motto
“Together we learn!
Together we achieve!”

This Summer, Hope’s residential was to Arthog. Everyone had a great time canoeing, gorge walking, orienteering and loads of team building activities. The night line activity was really fun too! The girls were the last to get to sleep each night and the boys, interestingly, had the tidiest dormatory.We all looked for treasure on Barmouth beach one evening. We saw loads of giant jelly fish - they looked like aliens. We also watched the sun set - it was beautiful. We all want to go again!
