Be careful on the quad bikes! - by Jess

7 09 2007

Faster and faster my wheels turned, round the corner leaping bump to bump on the uneven ground.

My speed picking up incredibly quick as I followed the herd, I slip and slide around the bend and gripped my tyres. Past the swaying trees in the woodland to the left of me, at amazingly high speed. As I followed on I had a funny and stomach quenching idea, that my rider hadn’t seen the huge stone just lying in the middle of the track in the exact same direction we were heading. Gripping my wheels and brakes trying as hard as i could to slow down and stop, I jerked forward my wheel in great pain. I lay there on my side facing the fallen rider, lay still on the ground in front of me.

I looked up and saw a grazed knee, a member of staff knelt at my side, and a dozen eyes just gazing at me. In pure embarrassment I stood up in shock, also wondering what had just happened. The member of staff picked up my quad, i got back on and we continued our dangerous journey onward.

Pirate Hunter and the curse of the deadly jewel - By Edward

Pirate Hunter and the curse of the deadly jewel

Chapter 1: Mysterious happenings

It was all mist. Mist, mist, mist. A perfect day for robbing villages and coastal towns. The mist was as thick as dust. Mist was not a nice thing to be around in. Unpleasant, scary feelings that creep up your back-bones like a spider climbs up their web. A ship came out of the gloom. The dull brown bow emerged out of the fog. Mist parted so that grey sails came into sight. The fore mast was covered in dust and dirt making it look like it was so old. Then the main mast sailed into view, and on the top of it was… the Jolly Roger! The sails had grime and dirt on them as well. On the poop deck stood old man, his face looked withered with age. His hat, a dark brown lined with black cotton stolen from the heart of Jamaica filled with cob-webs and dirt. With a hook instead of a hand and a sword in his belt. This man was captain of the most feared ship in all the Caribbean, the ‘The Rapier’. A crew member of the ship walked out of the hold. ‘Cap’n’ he said in a gruff voice ‘where will ye be headin.’
‘Weel be headin’ for….’
