Many thanks to Mary Webb Science College who provided kits to enable the Year 5/6s to enter the Solar Buggy Challenge as  part of National Science Week.

Year 5/6s had great fun designing and building their buggies

The Eggs Factor - We’re Number One!

Class 2 children are allowed to bring in their mobile phones with video cameras to video the flights. We’re finishing the project on Thursday afternoon.

Class 2 are taking part in the Young Engineers’ ‘Eggs Factor’ competition and are researching suitable aircraft to transport an egg by air.

Class 2 have already investigated how changing the amount of water makes a difference to the distance the rocket travels.

What other factors might make a difference to how far the rocket would travel?



Build a scale model of the solar system!

Class 2 had fun using this tool which gives the measurements to build a scale model of the solar system.

Simply enter how big you want your scale Sun to be and hit ‘Calculate’. Hey presto - all the measurements you need!

As part of their work on forces, year 3, 4, and 5 have been building some vehicles to race down the 3m course in the hall.

View the buggies, then please make a suggestion how they could make their vehicle travel faster. Why do you think some buggies travelled faster than others? Which forces need to be increased? reduced? how might they do this?
