Partnership with Parents
Effective education necessitates a close, working partnership between home and school.
Communication
The school seeks to involve parents in all areas of school life and recognises the importance of their contribution and support. Parent’s views are sought through an annual questionnaire and parent’s meeting. The school issues a weekly news letter to parents which details forthcoming events in school.
Parents are encouraged to come into school to discuss progress and the school is proactive in meeting with parents to address concerns or celebrate achievement.
In the Autumn and Summer terms we hold Parents’ Evenings, when the parents can discuss their children’s progress formally.
The school also aims to keep parents involved in changes to school practices and policies from time to time and arranges a number of open parent’s meetings across the year.
Parents and relatives are encouraged to visit the website at http://hopeblog.ethink.org.uk where examples of work are celebrated.
Friends of Hope School
We have an active parents association, Friends of Hope School, which new parents are encouraged to join. The Friends work very hard to support the school through a range of activities across the school, recently funding our outdoor play area equipment.
If you are interested in becoming involved with the Friends, please contact the chairperson (see Essential information for details). New members are warmly welcomed to the termly meeting.
Governing body
The Governing body of the school is comprised of people from a variety of backgrounds, some of whom are parents of children in the school and preschool. School governors work with the Headteacher and are responsible for setting the strategic direction of the school. Meeting are held at least once a term, and committees meet in addition to main Governing body meetings.
Each year an Annual Parent’s Meeting is held when the work of the Governing Body can be raised. The Governing Body also issues an annual survey of parents’ opinions and views. If you would like to be a school governor, please contact the Headteacher to find out about any vacancies or for information on election procedures.
